Do benefits of study abroad justify the difficulties? What advice would you offer to a prospective student?

Nowadays, there is a new trend to go study abroad. However, there are many obstacles that have to be overcome. Many people, especially the younger, welcome such action.

Generally going abroad without stay in in Sri Lanka is actually beneficial for their parent in financial side. Although, the living expense is little bit higher but the cost for education is very low. Here the student is disclose from parents. Moreover, these students should also calculate with some other expenditure, for instance, insurance and traveling etc. In addition, they have to adapt to the new environment which integrate into a new society. Therefore they may sometimes feel lonely.

The main requirement for attending abroad is the English Language. This should visible in spoken and written for a student chiefly  For the future employer will definitely appreciate this. Moreover this will improve the general knowledge about world and foreign culture.

My advice to the students, thinking about going abroad, is to plain everything in advance, in order to meet the deadlines clearly.

How to make your life successful?

Life is a very complicated portion where people lead while spending the time of the day. It this process is likely a way where a living creature’s life start climbing and follow many other stages to complete it successfully with obstacles. He / She is an economic being and a social creature. He / She has to earn, make a home, look after his people, attend to his / her responsibilities to the society and the Government. So in order to be successful, in all these, he / she has to develop certain qualities.

What do we mean by saying a man is successful? If in his career path he / she can do adequately both for himself / herself and others then he / she is successful. He / She must be able to look after his / her people and bring up good children. If he / she becomes a professional man like an engineer, doctor or lawyer, making money should not be the only condition; he / she must also be able to satisfy his / her clients and be honest at it.

In order to be successful one should develop certain qualities. At first he must realize his purpose; in other words what he would like to be. This is the core of the dilemma, for the choice does not come to him. Parents decide it very often for them. Let us suppose he decides to be somebody in his life. Once having decided he must work for attaining certain standard in that line. Only hard work would make him fit for the job. One must earn before desiring. One must remember one's education does not stop with the school or college and it is a lifelong process. Professional people must keep themselves up to date.

Then one must board with others. In society everyone finds oneself in a particular position; there may be some above and some below. One need not be favoring and flattering those above and be superior with those below. "What can I do for you' is the correct attitude and having done it go about your responsibility. In getting on with others sweet personality is really a benefit; then only others will like to conduct with one. One must not be easily prickly nor give aggravations to others. Then one must be reliable. One may be clever but if he is not consistent, he cannot achieve success in a great measure because others will have very little to do with him.

Another important quality that would make up for success is doing things then and there. Procrastination is the thief of time. Delay of doing things means enlargement of work for the next day. A small chink may be easily closed today but tomorrow it may be late. If we analyze the life of successful people we could easily see they have been through and never postponed doing things.

Still another quality is not to argue. The other may be really wrong. By pointing out that he has been wrong you are not going to improve matters, on the other hand you can help him correct. Arguing not only takes away precious time but also causes irritations. Especially one's superior may not like situation something like this. 'You may be right, sir', or 'This is all right', but 'what about our alternative' and so on.

One must be capable of learning from experience. 

One must be able to learn from the mistakes of others. Only when nations and individuals fail to learn from the past mistakes, they are ruined. 

Obedience to parents and elders

To be obedient is to toe the line in the orders of one's elders and superiors. There cannot be classify if not there is obedience. One has to obey the laws of the country; otherwise the society cannot continue living anymore. The laws may be tiresome, except the overall excellence of the law is to obey them. For instance,

-  The road law to be obeyed on the road ensures road safety.

-  The laws pertaining to property help society continue without hitches and hindrances.

Even in our body our limbs obey the commands of the brains unless they are diseased.

Obedience is essential for the enforcement of order. Docility includes obedience to person’s parents and elders. Parents are the best well wishers of their children. From their experience, they know what is good for their children. They would never mean ailing for them. For the goodness of the well being of the children, parents claim on obedience. Obedient children grow into superior children. They are not only loved by their parents but also by others connected with the household and by the neighbors. When children obey parents they are happy.

Based on the values and customs the obedience of children may differ sometimes. Children may not understand their propositions, but if they obey, very often they will guide of risks. For instance,

- The parent may warn his son of bad company. If the son obeys, he will grow unscathed. The parents may persevere on personal cleanliness, keeping things neat and tidy, being regular in studies and so on and so forth. If the boy or girl obeys the parents in such and other things, he or she will surely grow into a finer one.

Of course the parents' example may be dynamic enough. If the parent shows how he is obedient or submissive, the son will naturally be obedient.

Being obedient to parents and elders will have to be followed in life. An obedient person is always liked and respected. Unless one knows the value of obedience and has been practicing it, suddenly he cannot become amenable. People who are obedient are preferred to clever ones.

Obedience, just like charity must begin at home. Parents have a duty in bringing up children to be obedient and loving.

Computer and their utilizes

Computer is a greatest invention which enables the human being to complete the tasks with the use of less time while eliminating repetitive activities. This it achieves by imitating human thought processes. Same way as human thinks the computer also has the ability to think in advance mode using electrical knowledge. This has electrical circuits as well. These are used because to increase the speed of processing.

In this contemporary era man has mature to be profoundly reliant on computers to carry out all kinds of jobs that were done by hand before. Some examples where computer is being used are as follows.

- In banking for example computers allow for millions of transactions to be carried out involving large sums of money which would otherwise require thousands of bank tellers.

- Computers do the job in a much shorter time and practically free of any errors. Computers are responsible for air traffic control and the running of trains to ensure that travel is made as smooth as possible.

- In factories nowadays computers operate mechanical devices that produce goods we require for everyday living, in such quantities that would be otherwise impossible to achieve if these factories were run by humans alone.

With the use of computers the most advanced field is in the communication and the most popular way of accessing a large amount of people is Internet. The internet is a collection of computer systems and individual terminals linked up worldwide through telephone lines and other channels. It offers a cheaper alternative to communicating with people within a country and internationally through computers. It has also been described as an enormous pool of knowledge just waiting for applications it has given rise to a new means for countries to carry on trade with each other through E-Commerce.

It must though be kept in mind that as useful as computers are. They are not capable of independent thought and still require human input. In recent times scientists have developed Artificial Intelligence in computers that may enable them to function independently of man in the future.

My favorite time of the day

My most desired time of the day is between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is the time when the sun is setting and the air is cooling down. At this time I go for a walk in the small path near to the graceful village and play some games with my neighbor sisters or sit quietly watching the activities around the surrounding of my home garden. I do this because most of the times of the day I spend with the computer and busy with the college work. But this time gives me a little relaxes for my body and mind.

The compound adjoining of my house is a moderately large one which consists of different color of flower blooms as well as fruits which are spreading the smell all around. These have been grown by the father has and the birds of all sorts draw closer to the trees in the evening to sing their sweet songs. The bird watching and sweet songs of birds make my ears more interesting. I just sit under shady tree and listen to these lovely songs.

I water and manure the plants in the evening as the sun is soft and gentle. It is pleasant around the garden. If I am bored I go and play with my neighbor sisters as each time they come to my place searching of myself. Again it is enjoyable to leisurely walk around or even plays games when the sun is not hot in the evening.

In fact many people come back home after work and busy with the cooking food task as well. Some come out of their houses to breathe in the cool evening air and to relax a bit, unless it is raining. Also the fields, parks and other frivolous areas are filled with people as children are playing and younger’s are entertaining themselves.

In my point of view it is not only my favorite time of the day where I enjoy a lot after college studies. 

My Best Friend

I have several friends at school. Some are my school colleagues and some are my class mates. But the best among them is Lakshima Sajini Bandaranayaka, who is my class mate.

She belongs to Colombo District, Kumbuka, Gonapala region and comes of a very reputable family. She is of my age and birthday is on 13^th April 1994 (Sinhala & Tamil New Year Day). But she is somewhat taller and fat than I in size and has in my fair color skin. She has curly hair, milky teeth and a pair of beautiful eyes. She has a very cheerful, true friend in my life who has the capability of satisfying me in adversity or triumph.

She has been with me for Eleven years in school and still with me. I never found angry with her. Her face is always akin to a smiling flower blossoms. Even if any girl says something against me, she doesn’t like it and try to make me appreciate among others. On this time she never lost me; although she got a little temper in opposition to them. She is more likely a vegetarian same as myself and love Buddhism very much.

Lakshima is very smart and clean in her dress. She likes to dress in a White blouse and Black Trousers or skirts which look her as professional. If not wear casual clothes which fit to the body and wear shoes and slippers. Her clothes are to some extent costly. Her dressing gives her a respectable look. It shows that she is not active in work. We will never find his clothes covered with ink spots or dirt.

At school she sits on the same row with me in the next table. We are together for the greater part of the day. We study together or even play together. We have our meal together with sharing. We share our stationary as well.

She is very good at her lessons. She never neglects her studies. She never gives the teacher a chance to complaint. Each time she is the First in the class by scoring a huge amount of score closer to grand total in WP/ HO/ Prajapathi Balika Vidyalaya. I hope she will be the best student in A/L in WP/Col/Devi Balika Vidyalaya. Her wish is to stand on her own legs in the society by doing a career.

She is good at both studies and sports and attended to sports in Sugathadasa Stadium too. She is loved by the teachers. She is truthful and honest. She does not feel jealous of anybody. She has sportsman spirit. She helps the weak children in their lessons with me. She is not proud of her position in the class. Every year she gets prize both in studies and games. She helps her parents in the house. She never wastes the time at home or school. She was a prefect at school and also joined to girl’s scouts committee too.

Lakshima is a girl of excellent honorable character. She has got middle standards before him. He is expected to make a great man in the years to come. All his qualities have attracted me. I cannot find a more ideal friend than Lakshima.
