Computers can translate all kinds of languages well. Do our children need to learn more languages in the future?

As computers have the ability to translate one language to many other languages it represents that the computer is playing an important role as interpreters. This helps even human beings to learn another new language in the life while improving accuracy of knowing the usage.  Same as computers the students also should be able to study the foreign language by encouraging. In the technical world the main drawback is that; the computers are minimizing the need for children to learn foreign languages translation. This wouldn't benefit the students for the development of the cognitive skills as they grow into the maturity.

Because of the language translation is doing by the computer the careers are increasing for the translators too in the global economy. Children can avoid time consuming by mastering on a particular language by conducting self-study or learning in order to be a star shining in the sky. This discloses the development of an individual and makes him proud. Therefore the students can gain valuable skills in their studies. If a student can do translations almost immediately than a computer in a single click of the mouse will help to save time for using the computers. This will help to advance the personal progress.

 Being able to translate single language to another language bring many benefits to the individual. Although students think it is difficult to learn another language it is a must to study that anyhow to attain achievements by making the dreams in the real world coming true. Computer cannot teach the translation of a particular language to supplementary but only it can perform translations. Children who learn many other languages with the native talking lend a hand to come to a better place to cope and integrate with other cultures. 

Do our children necessitate learning more languages?

It is true that computers can translate all kinds of languages. However, it translates a word of another language to the needed language. Learning language helps it is easier to associate with people and also access to the traditions of the world. More languages you are acquainted with signify money comes as a stream while brighten your future. Therefore, children need to learn more than a language. 

Learning another language is a strong way to capture people and their culture. To learn efficiently, children need to contact with the lifestyle and culture of people who speak the language as a mother tongue. Then learning language will improve children knowledge about information that relates with the language.

For example, if children want to learn to write English, they need to know more idioms and phrasal verbs, therefore, they need to watch or read Shakespeare’s plays or fairy tale of England. Hence, they will know more about Britain culture and history as well.

For children, who learn more than one language; will have benefit in the future. During internationalization, business companies prefer bilinguals than one main language. As people discover another language from childhood, they can speak/ write creatively with a frequent ability of usage in the society. It also gives children more opportunities to find a suitable job. There are a lot of jobs for people who know more than a language.

For an instance, as my mother tongue is Sinhalese I started to learn Tamil as well and did for G C E O/L Examinations too. So this shows you how important are the necessity of knowing more than a language. As I know Sinhalese  English and Tamil I will be able to get a good career in future of my life. This will assist me to be a translator in future too. 

Should retirement be compulsory at 60 years of age?

Many careers, as well as companies, have mandatory retirement ages. A mandatory retirement age is the age that a person in a particular job is automatically required to retire. It comprises of the maximum age a person that can perform a particular job.  

When considering the official positions on companies; the current procedure is based on the pension’s minute. The retirement age of 55 provides employees to request for work ahead of the age of 55. This establishes an obligation for employers to consider those requests based on objective criteria means that age 55 people sometimes live with good health, expert knowledge and skills.

Today, the life expectancy at birth has risen to about 72 for males and 76 for females. Sri Lankans are today living longer. So far, they retire from paid work at the same age as before. Public officers once they turn the age of 60 years give up working. But retirement is an unproductive interval between regular employment and death. This is quickly disappearing. The compulsory retirement opens many avenues for an active retiree to follow part-time employment or even a second career.

Retirement in a late life brings certain point of leisure with a certain level of wealth.  The retirement at 60 characterizes a loss of efficiency for society by older people. Today a person in sixties lives longer, is better educated and is in better health. It does not make economic sense for the society to continue to pay a pension for a longer duration to a retiree. Increasing the age of retirement is an intimidation in that; it delays a younger person from entering the labor market.

At present most public sector jobs are in the service sector, in knowledge generation. Generally, in most countries the normal retirement age is 65 and possibly even 70. There is also provision for early voluntary retirement where qualified staff can voluntarily retire between 50 and 59. Early retirement in the interest of the professional exercise of duties may be permitted between 55 and 65 years arising as a result of an organizational review. In addition, early retirement due to redundancy may be permitted when there is a loss of a post that requires an employee to be shifted.

As we know the importance of old people’s value we must treat them well in an effective manner. The new joiners for the company should help the people who are in the point of retirement by joining the post.  The usual retirement age in contracts of employment is 65. Some retirement ages are established by law and the law sets out the maximum age of staff.

If you are self-employed, there is no set retirement age.  

However, in general, the concept of   retirement of people consists of   several advantages and disadvantages.

 

          ·         Loss of Experience

One of the major disadvantages of a mandatory retirement age is that it requires people to leave a position at greater experience level. This means that they will not be allowed to remain at the organization to pass on their knowledge to younger people.  

           ·         Younger Generation Entering Workforce

However, by pushing an older group of people out of a particular profession makes the box open for the younger generation to enter the workforce. If a profession does not see significant turnover, then younger people will often be less liable to train to enter it. The younger crowd is trained to offer a good qualification.

           ·         Loss of Income

Many people who are pushed out of a job after they reach a particular age are not qualified to perform work. It is often extremely difficult for older workers to get hired, particularly for positions in which they have little experience.

Today there are stiff debates about age when people should retire. In reality, some people think that it is fair to make for 55 years old the age boarder for retirement. However, other people think that 60 years of age is a late time for people to retire by enjoying the life with work. Personally I think that people should retire earlier than 55 years of age.

Should developing countries concentrate on improving industrial skills or should they endorse education first?

Developing countries are under pressure to widen and advance themselves. Having limited resources, they have to assign wisely and make the best use of their resources. In my opinion, they should highly prioritize education. I see that the quality of human resources is the most important factor which determines the future of a country. Best way to keep the quality of human resources high is education. 

Most of the developed countries have only limited natural resources. They have invested in education highly. Well educated, people are prepared to compact with the twist of their era and can always find ways to go through difficulties. 

On the other hand, many countries rely much on industrialization but don’t pay due attention to the quality education. Rapid industrialization is the fastest way to enhance their economic growth and create employment; they give priority to improving industrial skills over education. As a result, they manage to provide labor supplies to their industry but fail to give proper education. 

Developing countries should promote education first because it is the fundamental tool to increase the quality of their human resources. If they succeed in building their human resources, prosperity and welfare will tag on. Companies are always finding the best way to improve their economic activity, process, product or services to costumer. Company invests more money in education than skills with brilliant staff.

For example the employees go to other countries to study a specific specialization, PhD among others; as a consequence the best staff can handle / manage the machines or office in a better way. Education in the globalization is a very important issue because with that the person would be more qualified for that job with sufficient skills. Furthermore, if people don’t have knowledge, they cannot do their job properly. For example, if a manager doesn't know how to administrate employees or to manage the financial resources of the company then the company is in trouble and go bellow ranks.

Finally, developing countries should concentrate in on the education promotion because with this when this fact occurs so the staff will be more productive, faster and dynamic. The best thing is that the whole world has a lot of intelligent people so which should increase their productivity due to education.

Most high level jobs are done by men. Should the government encourage a certain percentage of these jobs to be reserved for women?

Statistics shows that most high level jobs are done by men. In this era the production promotes widely gender equality. As a result, the government is demanded to encourage a certain percentage of high level jobs to be reserved for women.

The most important qualification to utilize a worker in a high level job is professionalism, not gender. High level jobs require high performance and integrity but when reserving a certain percentage of these jobs for a particular group of people some issues can be raised.  Today most of the right people are in wrong place due to the lack of job opportunities in a country. This is because of the stability of the economy.  

Employment should be based on fair competition but not on any particular group of society. People from both genders should be given equal opportunity to try to win reasonably with each others to get the jobs. Giving special favor to a particular group to live in a certain percentage of high level jobs can mean unfair process. 

Many women give up high positions because they need more time for spending with their family. Clearly the high positions are very demanding but time consuming. Responding to their motherly natures, many women choose to devote a considerable amount of their time to their children and family. Because of the motherly nature the officials may sometimes delay but that person can enroll another person to take care of that work until she comes to work. This clearly shows that gender discrimination has nothing to do. 

The government doesn’t have to satisfy the demand by reserving a certain percentage for women by giving special favor in job fields. Appointing more women in a work would not lead to development the country.  The benefit for the society is to balance unify of men and women. 

Importance of education for the student life

Education is excellent because it helps students to improve the skills while enabling to get better jobs and improve our living styles and standards. This helps for county’s social economic as well as the political side.

From the small days children obtain the education about discipline from the parent who is known as the home school and gradually grows send to the school to acquire the desirable skills and knowledge. This helps for the development of the society in the future by lighting the lamps.

The educations helps us to measure how much percentage did the country development has taken part, did poverty reduction happen by improving the living standards etc.

The well educated people can join for the national development while improving the growth of the enterprises as well by working on hard and soft skills. When the education is given next step is to offer training.

After the war most of the countries are still in the origin of the achievement of education. The chief aspect is that education produces the skillful intelligent generation that will lead to a future leader of a country with self confidence. One cannot say the education is enough but it the responsibility of an individual to keep it up-to-date to spend a better life. In my perspective it is the valuable gift to us and it helps to get better jobs when education is suitable for nowadays.

In future in our generation we can be the leaders of the country to offer a better service to the society fruitfully. In the initial stages the fundamentals are absorbed and next are to do higher studies while offering a service. Education is a measure of economic stability which comes across the life style. External tuitions and courses help to build a modest person in the society. Education promises to give a profession for anybody. A professional career gives people decent income that allows them to attempt for many other demands. 

Therefore, they can increase the gross domestic product (GDP) by supplying it. Furthermore, when people have stable income, they will be willing to pay tax from the revenue. The more taxes are collecting, the further advantage for the development of a country. Jobs will lead to economic stability, which is the key for developing a nation. Obliviously, education is the exclusive and the most efficient type to approach lasting development in long-term.

Nowadays, when the universal world is constantly developing in the area of economics in every field there’s a strong growing necessitate in experienced and talented people. The people will be able to make significant contribution in the economy of the country’s life. It is important to utter that education plays a significant role in the development process of countries.  

Higher education is not compulsory for young people. Some can learn more from their gathered experience in life but the people who are wishing for attaining high positions in the society are required to have good knowledge foundation. The young people must work with enthusiasm in order to achieve the higher positions in any company or country by full filling the knowledge with different areas. Thus, higher education is rendering help to succeed in life. Let’s look at the following situation.  

Higher education not only provides people with sufficient knowledge, but also helps them develop their own self-respect. If there is proper education system floating among the world then the crime, murder or robbery activities will be holding a lower percentage. Education gives us an opportunity to increase our better sides by providing the society. Each person should have the aim to contribute to the country’s development.

Education is the single most significant aspect in the growth of a country?

Any person is needed the education to spend the life. In a country there are educated and uneducated people. Many job opportunities are opened for educated people. A good education will not only bring talented students into the country, but also increase life styles. Education is beyond doubt one of the most important factors in the development of a country because it opens up job opportunities, brings up more brilliant individuals into the country, and increases productivity of the country.

Many job opportunities are opened up because of education. When we go to the historical writes it clearly mentions that Dr. C W W Kannangara started the free education. But most of the schools do not grant the needed education for the students; means they do not teach well for the students at school therefore the students have to fly for tuition classes as well. Because proper education is received their future ma dark for the poor students mainly. In any country it is the responsibility to teach the students well while teaching good habits to live a good life. Based on the first footing student’s future is always designing.

A proper education teaches community skills and knowledge that they will need in their careers. As people become more educated, more job opportunities will be opened to the educated individuals who process the qualifications to succeed in those jobs. Therefore, education serves a key to unlock job opportunities.
If an individual is satisfying the qualifications that the company is looking for and he/ she has the ability to work more helps to get a good career in life and offer a chance to spend a good life style with the family. A good education will also attach many talented individuals into the country. Although student is educated with talents and knowledge it is necessities to respect elders and maintain good behavior where the person is obedient for parents and elders. This is the most important thing for a country’s development.

“For instance, there are many foreign students choosing to study in Canada every year. They explain that for studying in Canada is valuable because the education system in Canada is better than back home. After finishing their degree, many of those students choose to stay in Canada because they are attracted by the job opportunities in Canada than back home. Hence, a good education will attract talented individuals into the country.”

In my experience more foreign students come to Sri Lankan universities to study than staying in their country by mentioning that it is important to study in Sri Lanka as the education system is good than their country. Especially in APIIT there are Maldives, Malaysia students who study in APIIT Lanka although there is APIIT Malaysia is available nearer to them. This shows that the Sri Lanka can earn foreign income well while providing them the good jobs. Education also increases our life styles.

Even after marriage most of the people go to America, Singapore or Australia to educate their children in advance than them while doing good standard jobs. In Sri Lanka, many of the people get the same level of job or the salary but when compared to other countries it is bit unworthy. But the reason is still Sri Lanka is a developing country.

Education also teaches the importance of the health factors and this lead to healthier lives by selecting the safer places to spend the days. Education is one of the most important factors in the development of a country. Education brings up more job opportunities for those who are educated. A good education in the country can attract foreign students to study abroad and work in the country.
