My first speech was a challenge I faced or personal accomplishment I achieved

From my childhood at kindergartens I have made so many public speeches. These helped me to face many of the academic challenges in my education life still in university as well. When you hear that I have done public speech you may wonder, but it is not a point to be surprise.

I learned a great deal about my strengths and weaknesses from those speeches. Earlier I had little bit afraid but now I worked out to avoid that fear and to make successful speeches. I have explored and used the many services available to students from kindergarten to school.

I have done many welcome speeches, other speeches in many functions like concerts, special occasions like English Day etc. Also I have done great speeches in Second Language Tamil and won the 1^st place in Kaluthara District Horana District and Zone. So I have a proud in that and respect in school too. These guided me to conduct college assembly in front of around 1,000 students. I successfully achieved that huge challenge with my studies in each week. This also gave me good experience in doing speeches in my school life and to move to Degree life.

I am enthusiastic and motivated to accomplish anything what my parents were not able to achieve. It is my obligation to achieve success in my life. Today I am proud to be a good speaker in the APIIT in the presentations without any fear. Because the before mentioned experience helped me a lot to build confidence and stand bravely. I did one presentation in front of the whole class which has 3 batches with around 40 students a presentation in APIIT Level 1. This challenge also achieved successfully.

Only thing need to do a good presentation is practice well. The qualities such as commitment, dedication opened the doors to make my dreams successful in my life.

Excellence is only achieved through experience

Excellence is only granted to those who develop the habit of independence. Excellence is only achieved through experience and experienced people are those who are self dependents. There is a famous saying that, the best lightning pole for your protection is your own backbone.

Another famous saying is that god helps those who help themselves. Independent person never feels shame more than self dependence. A bird always trusts none but its own wings because bird knows that its wings will never give up the bird. Therefore as human we also need to trust only ourselves because at the end only we are remaining while others go wrong.  Those who rely upon others actually are the losers who try to find shortcut in their lives. Those have to be apologetic in their lives. This is because they gained nothing by relying over others.

Confidence over others makes a person to understand responsibility and be familiar of relying over others. And in result they cannot do their own work by their own. 

Independent person is always confident and proud of himself. History keeps the records of those who were independent in their field as best heroes. Scientists who are known as fathers of inventions were self reliant. Self-sufficiency is the encouragement to the learners.

A student who depends on others for accomplishing his/her tasks, never coddle at the time of receiving marks as compare to that student who is independent. The best course to start work is own capability. Self reliance always brings cheer over the faces of self dependent. Failure is the destiny of relying over others.

Favorite Book 2: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

The novel put in the pictures about the story of four sisters growing up with their father away at war, a mother and having to learn the responsibilities of domestic household tasks. Each sister is represented at the same time having a different creative talent and but one have a talent suitable for women at that time.

The exception is the disloyal and spirited Joe who follows the masculine role of writing. Through her creative thoughts, disloyalty against becoming a classic girl and determination to keep on writing; Joe shows that a woman’s role can be expanded and women generally can achieve much more personal satisfaction than a normal person at that time.

It is because that Joe took the idea to act on her creative and artistic talents that she became an encouragement for woman. Joe is a girl who never get fed up and this proves from the section can’t keep still all day without being a pussycat. With that Joe took off for the afternoon to keep busy, with her imagination. No matter what is going on around the house through her creativity, Joe is always able to keep her entertained.

The imaginative thinking of Joe made her a great writer. The four sisters had created their own secret society within the house and on rainy days they organized their meetings. They read an article in a newspaper how they had created Joe with her creative talents by writing stories and poems. This made Joe a good practice to become a real writer.

Women were expected to stay at home to cook, clean the house and look after the children. For Josephine that kind of labor would be pain. Joe enjoyed playing boys’ games and doing boys’ labor, Joe’s lack of perfect lady shows when she and Meg are invited to a party. Meg has to remind Joe that she is a young lady.

Meg is uncomfortable by her sister’s lack of interest in the female facts. This is particularly so when they are on an outing where young men are present and Meg wishes to make a good thought. Joe hasn’t a thought in the world about her image. What she does care so keenly about is her writing and the wish that it be taken seriously.

The other three sisters are concerned to grow up and get married. This is a typical attitude for young women at the time to be interested in wishing for fending for oneself. Joe has no desire to marry. She feels that all the love she needs is right there in her family. When her sister Meg decides to get married, Joe feels like she’s losing part of herself.

As the oldest daughter she has always put up with a reasonable responsibility, particularly with not having her father at home. Joe wanted a career and the ability to be profitable. These were not the dreams of the typical girl whose only goal is to get married and start a family. Joe would moderately have career and take care of herself.

Women were not allowed to publish their own works but that didn't stop Joe from privately writing own stories and plays. Her sisters were her biggest supporters. Always the passion is to be a writer with a clear mind.

Joe would work away at her writing. Finally finishing a piece of work Joe cried out. No matter how many drafts she had to write, Joe would continue until her work was perfect. Joe’s first submission was to a newspaper but that was not accepted and did not earn any money.  

Woman at the time of this novel lead a very structured life. Josephine attempt to achieve these challenges of society and do what made her happy. Even though her chosen field was male oriented, she continued and achieved goal of becoming a writer. The character of Joe is an encouragement for a woman because she performed all these hard work with her determination. Through her creativity, disloyalty nature and not to be like every other girl and her determination carried towards success.

Favorite Book 1: Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

Black Beauty was born on a very nice farm. His farm had acres of delicious fields that were filled with flowers and apple trees. He had a very good personality and usually happy. Black Beauty's master was especially nice to him. He fed him delicious foods such as oats, gruel, crispy apples and fresh food. His master would comfort him by talking to him calmly and softly.

Black Beauty's mom had a beautiful silky brown coat with locks the color of sand. She left him when he was one year old because she got traded away by her owner. This was a very sad time for Black Beauty.

A friendship was born with a horse named Ginger who became Black Beauty's best friend. She became Black Beauty's best friend because they could really talk to each other and would listen closely to each other’s life stories. Ginger was usually happy because she had Beauty for a nice kind, gentle friend. They were best friends for only about one year. They didn’t see each other for about eight years because they had gotten traded away to other places.

The next time they see each other Black Beauty does not even recognize Ginger. She was so thin laughed at her. Black Beauty thinks that it would not be unkind to send her to the butcher.

James Howard and Joe Green were two of Beauty’s more favorite gentle masters. James Howard was really nice. He fed Beauty and he didn’t work her too much. He even saved Ginger’s life from a shed fire accidentally started by the porter which was a young boy. He was Beauty’s first master.

Joe Green was just an understanding master who always cared for Beauty. Beauty always felt that Joe worked him just enough pulling the taxi. If Joe over worked him he always made up for it by resting Beauty a day or two.

Another master was Jakes who was somewhat signify. Jakes worked for a company that shipped food and Black Beauty helped transport the food. This was because horses were a main source of transportation. Having deadlines, Jakes really couldn’t help over working Beauty. This is why he is my least favorite character in the book. 

In my judgment the main conflict in the novel is that Black Beauty wants kind, gentle and loving masters. He gets them every occasionally because he is traded constantly. Those people took lots of work and beat him as well. Sometimes they give to eat and rest him. Black Beauty gets traded or sold at auctions. He probably had seven to ten masters in the novel.

My favorite character in the book was Black Beauty because he changed into a real workhorse. In the end he found a nice retirement place where a grandpa and a boy kept him for the rest of his life. He had a badly injured ankle which would take six months to cure. Black Beauty could now relax and enjoy his life with people who really cared about him.

I think the lesson in this book is that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. Black Beauty had nice and signify masters in the book. He also was treated very well at some times and other times very poorly. Finally, I would like to recommend this book to someone if they like animals because it shows the story from a horse’s point of view. I think that is really cool and interesting.

Cinderella

When I was a little girl my favorite most respected story was Cinderella. I do everything in my power to believe and become Cinderella. The main aim behind Story Cinderella is to encourage young girls to live on their dreams and keeping up the spirit of truth in heart. Cinderella has always been my favorite from the world of fairy tales. When Disney gave birth to it for the first time in a full length animated movie, it became more and more famous.

Cinderella’s role is a bit different from all the other princesses. She plays her role amazingly although she is just a character from an old sandy book from an animated movie, she rather puts it nicely.

An orphan girl, living with an evil step mother and two dreadful step sisters always obeys them but this respect and gentle heart led her to the point of weakness. Stopping young Cinderella to go to the royal ball was such foul of her mother and sisters. But seemed the wish was coming true. A fairy- god-mother appears and alters Cinderella’s rag into a beautiful dress, a fat pumpkin into an amazing cart and four stupid mice into horse men. What more can wipe up Cinderella’s tears and bring smile to her lips.

Cinderella was ready to go to the ball but the fairy-god-mother had a condition that she should come back before twelve at night. As soon as, Cinderella reached the ball, the prince felt in love with her at a first sight.

They together had a wonderful time but then Cinderella had to go back to her home before twelve. In a rush, Cinderella leaves one of her glass slipper. 

But the prince was determined to find his love back. Royal men from the palace visited each house letting the young girls and ladies try on the slipper but all of them failed including Cinderella’s step sisters. But then the wind began, in a spark of light, it fitted correctly on Cinderella’s foot. Everyone was surprised at this.

The prince was happy to find his love back and at last all the wishes of Cinderella came true. And that’s how every girl want to become like Cinderella and the fairy tale is for girls who dream of living happily ever after.  I loved everything about Cinderella how she came from rags to riches in a matter of time and how the whole story line came about had just caught my interest. The fairy tale did an amazing job in showing little girls that being a good person. This story can relate and touch so many girls around the world.

Stress And Its Effects On Young People Today

I think stress is the main reason why many young people today are falling apart in their lives. The definition of stress is the pressure or tension applies over an object. There are many things that cause stress. Some of them are failing a test, too much homework and projects, sports practices, deadlines of projects, worrying about something. Because of this, they are likely to feel even more upset that they come across these effects of stress.

Stress affect many young people and cause them to do crazy things like committing crimes, dropping out of school, suicide etc. I think the best way to deal with with stress is to either to think positive thoughts or just say the feeling to a friend and share experience while smiling. If their stress is continuous youth people may also face critical health problems such as heart disease, sleeping problems, depression and obesity. 

As a school student the main cause of stress to you may be attending school. Because students are given tons of homework, projects, essays, tests. every single day. Not only that, most of the due dates of these assignments are close to each other which causes me to feel so much concern. This same way affects university students as well when teachers give lot of home work and have also to complete assignments and also have to study for exams. I have faced these things during my university life.

As a result, I have to be working and studying 24/7 at school and home. I scarcely have leisure time for myself whether it would be watching TV/ movie, reading a story book, listening radio or going shopping. I know that I should not be complaining as much because I decided to enroll myself in all honors classes. Most of the time, of we stuck in a certain point, we feel like having extension for work deadlines.

I think as students we should deal these things and relax, practice good time management and simply do best to accomplish the goals. After all of the success we will pay off and benefit my future in the end.  This is the only goal remain to students.

The possible effects of videogames or violent toys on children

In this technological era, while toys carry on becoming popular gifts for children, video games are at the top of many wish lists of some children. Boys are more open to the behavioral effects due to the unnecessary use of the war toys. Use of these toys is high by the male children.

Young children have difficulty in separating facts from fantasy. Children learn through play. It is during imaginative participation that the child begins to learn. Learning to lend a hand, discuss are important skills learned through play. The learning process through play and games is applied in kindergartens which have turned out to successful method of teaching all around the world.

Although kindergartens use games or toys to play or teach children; kindergartens are always not responsible for destruction of the child’s psychology. However they are just the foundation for the child to enter into the violence fantasy. Television, video games have become increasingly cruel. Research conducted recently state that they indicate aggressive behavior in children.

Most parents are aware about the effects on their children due to the violent television shows.  But many do not realize that violence behind toys. Most experts say that children should not be allowed to play with guns or other toys that promote violence. I agree with that point. These toys send the message that violence is acceptable and conflicts should be resolved by fighting to the children. But in my opinion it must not be like that.

It may not be obvious. But the toys that a child plays with can have deep effects on them. Providing a child with toys that encourage learning in a healthy way can be a huge benefit to a child's development. In my viewpoint parents need to give children, the toys that are essential in child development to build a peaceful happy and harmony environment. Toys help children to model the world. But our society has been teaching for generations that guns and violence are acceptable behavior.

War toys not only have negative impacts on child’s behavior or development but they raise negative ideas. Parents’ guidance is necessary to keep their children away from such toys that broadcast violent behaviors in their children as well as help them escape from those.

Children should be provided with the toys that encourage creativity and imaginative occupy themselves while encouraging, sharing and cooperation, building and creating rather than destroying. Promote learning of new skills help children develop their own talents that are open-ended.

The violence in toys and video games is nothing new. But it is only the attention that you can give to them. Regardless of warning labels, violent toys and video games make children dull and not intelligent. But what kinds of effects do these violent toys and video games bring? Children’s toys started representing violent characters before few years as well. The probable effects of playing with violent toys have for a long time debate. This is why there are warning labels on many of the most violent toys; kids play out violent solutions to imaginary conflicts.

Ready to Learn Something New

There is no limit to the activities that grandparents and grandchildren can share. Favorites tend to be: days out at museums or the park, simply spending time with them without feeling what most parents experience. But the pressure rise when doing something else without grandchildren

Learning about the past is a key thing that grandparents and grandchildren can do together. I know from my own childhood how much I enjoyed hearing my grandparent’s stories. But grandparents can also pass on important life skills to help children become more independent, like cooking and money management.

Some Grandparents have special skills that they can share with their grandchildren. If grandparents knows mathematics, plays the piano, knows how to paint - then it seems very natural for them to share what they know with grandchildren who show even a small amount of interest. But rarely grandparents share something else besides a specific skill. They share with their grandchildren their own desire to always be learning something new.

Grandparents do not like to live in the corner of house but often like to spend time with children. Modern technology such as Skype, webcams on laptops and PCs, mobile phones and Facebook mean grandparents have a range of ways to keep in touch with children. Many have overcome a lack of enthusiasm to use computers if it means more contact with their grandchildren.

There are benefits of close contact. Children who have a grandparent involved in their care are less likely to be taken to accident and emergency and teenagers who spend more time with their grandparents become more sensitive and considerate to others.

Grandchildren love to learn things from their grandparents. But in modern societ other way around also may work. In today's world grandchildren can teach their grandparents how to use the computer, ipod, dvd player, even cell phone.

Value of Grandparents Listening

Many Grandparents are likely to have more time to listen to children on a given occasion  as well as to listen child's own parents. While parents may be busy taking care of multiple children, making supper, giving baths, doing all the things that parents do, grandparents have fewer responsibilities.

Once the children start schooling, grandparents can act as good listeners to all the stories, the children want to tell. This in turn teaches them to be good listeners as well. By this way, the family gets to know what is happening in the child's life - their friends, their problems, their achievements and their failures.

Grandparents can play an active role in developing hobbies like reading, gardening, or even indoor and outdoor games. This will be helpful to them in future.  Grandparents have the time to hear a child read a story or newspaper over and over again. They can also take the time to listen to an emotional tale to tell. This makes both parties happier while making interest. Listening always add enthusiastic comments, ask just the right question and agree with the child's analysis of whatever is being shared.

Grandparents are the best story tellers - nobody will disagree with this. Story telling is the first step towards developing reading habit. Grandparents can further help by reading out stories, selecting books for children and taking them to libraries.

Grandparents are the most interested and reliable listeners of kids. They may not be totally able to express how they appreciate being listened to so carefully. Kids often like to see grandparents or ask to speak with them on the phone. As they experience the kind attention is lovely to children.  They are learning not only how good it feels to be listened to but also what it takes to be a good listener. Each child deserves to have grandparents living with them.

What kids can learn from grandparents and great-grandparents?

In my point of view grandparents have some privileges parents don't. In addition, life experience has given them some valuable gifts. As children we can learn a lot from them. Kids automatically trust their grandparents and for good reasons. They know that grandparents love them almost without limits and in front of grandparents eyes cannot do any wrong work. Sensing the love and acceptance of their grandparents, kids relax. So that children aren't on boundary.

Quietly they can absorb the simple lessons that grandparents are more than prepared to teach. Their teaching stories make children interesting. Parents do both their own parents and their children without making any special favor by providing the time and the encouragement.

This allows all members of the family to determine and grow from learning what grandparents can teach grandchildren about life.Grandparents have a wealth of stories to share about the good old days with a longer experience in life. Sure sometimes the stories that grandparents say you, you have heard a million times and really don't need to hear again. These tales of days can remain hidden gems, unless grandparents encouraged bringing children to light for the assessment and suggestion.

Grandparents know more about the family than anyone else present around the various occasions. Grandparents can tell grandchildren about how these holidays and special occasions were celebrated in the past, what foods were considered as treats, what special outfits people wore, what members of the family back in those other times were funny, cute, spoiled, quiet, talented, or kind while comparing to present society. When grandparents share these kinds of memories they let their grandchildren to understand the warm secrets of the past. Also prove how these tasks have diminished in the present generation.

Here are some important common things that make bond between your children and grand parents.

1. They don’t feel responsible and shout at themselves for everything the child does.

2. They get a break to refill their own cups.

 Obviously parents can't give kids to someone else to look after and go out without them.  But we can find ways to take time for ourselves so we have something to give kids.  This is challenging to be an enthused parent.

3. They have learned that kids do grow up and become solid citizens. 

They've learned through strong experience that kids go through challenging phases and come out reasonable.

4. They don't challenge a close relationship by punishing. 

 Sure, you need to set limits for children to make their behavior good.  But punishment of any kind always damages your relationship with your child and makes it more likely that he'll be naughty.

5. They know life is short.  

Grandparents have seen and have shared both sadness and joy.  They know that sometimes all parents can do is to share happy/ unhappy together and the rest of the time by forgetting them be happy.

6. They have more touching prime of life and have learned something about what really matters in life. 

Grandparents have the maturity to let a child win an argument, when a parent would need to prove she's right.  Grandparents are usually better listeners than parents most of the time. Grandparents are short on criticism and long on love.

7. They know how quickly childhood passes.  

So they want kids on their laps as long as possible, they don't tell a child to stop acting like a baby and they would never turn down a tea party invitation to wash dishes. After the tea party they find a way to make washing the dishes fun and get the grandchild involved unless.

8. They know what a wealth each child is.

 So they're more likely to appreciate the unique gifts of each child and be understanding about the challenges each child brings into the world.

9. They never run out of hugs and cookies. 

Life is hard-hitting and we all need to be able to count on the sweetness of someone who wants nothing more from this moment than to sit and listen to us talk.

I know not all grandparents can reach this supreme model. But shouldn't we take the opportunity to learn valuable things from them and adjust our life with children accordingly.  When giving children the information about their past days of life helps children to get more clear understanding of who they really are and where they came from in terms of the family tree. These kinds of knowledge help to sharpen a child's sense of identity and also of belonging.

Grandparents usually can provide this information in a way that delights and bamboozles kids. Grandparent’s special knowledge of the past and their ability to connect that past to images in the present make their observations real treasures that children will continue to think about for years to come.

Hospitality in the global village

The world has trim down in the direction of a global village. It is no more now distinct by countries as well as continents. Community is connected transversely the globe through the Internet and World Wide Web. This has bridge the digital divide among rich and poor people who can access the internet resources.

On the Internet, physical distance is even less of a encumbrance where as the real-time communicative activities of people has a little amount of distance. Therefore the social bubbles are greatly developed by the directness of the web. Also has provided the facility to search for online communities, people and interact with others who share the same interests and feelings.

This technology further promotes the idea of a multinational and unified global community. The concept of “e-village” in Sri Lanka Program demonstrates the effective contribution of an IT infrastructure in the speed up socio-economic development. Provide increased opportunities for growth and a better quality of life for citizens in rural communities, particularly the youth, by using ICT as a tool and enabler for development.

Village with limited access to resources and few opportunities for its youth benefited greatly when ICT was introduced. Through dedicated populace the village youth were empowered with the knowledge and skills needed to access the means for a better quality life. ICTA reproduced this successful model in several villages across the country. 

Opportunity through Enterprise

Enterprise is all about creativity of mind, positive attitude, sincerity and energy. This needs to cultivate national political and economic leadership as well. The combination in enterprise of creativity and a build spirit creates opportunities to improve lives and livelihoods. This encourages human beings to celebrate talent and innovation that can be supported and put to the best usage.

The chief objective of Commonwealth is to build on the shared values, principles and goals while converting those into practical achievements which can be achieved. Also help to speed up full advantage of opportunities created by enterprising Commonwealth citizens, organizations and governments. Moreover let young people to find and maximize their innovative opportunities.

Commonwealth Day is traditionally celebrated around the world in Commonwealth countries. The great opportunity of this year is to promote understanding on self-governing values, the self-respect of citizens and opportunities for youth across the Commonwealth. In my point of view from this school children, university students as well as young crowd can get beneficial through the imagination, creativity to grasp the opportunities of valuable time spend at home or school or university.

Think ∙ Eat ∙ Save -My effort to reduce Foodprint (World Environment Day)

The theme for the world Environmental Day was “Think ∙ Eat ∙ Save -My effort to reduce Foodprint”.  The chief objective is to minimize the wastage of the food in all stages of the food chain.  This is to raise awareness about the environmental effects of our food choices and discover ways to reduce environmental foodprint.

Food production has reflective impact on environmental resources. According to the findings, Agriculture is responsible for 70% of fresh water consumption, 80% of deforestation and 30% of greenhouse gas emission etc. The main roots for food production can be high usage of land, loss of biodiversity, soil erosion, water and air pollutions etc.

Although producing enough food for everyone still there are around 90 core people who are staying hungry world over. Therefore on this environmental day we all take a guarantee to make a significance difference individually and collectively to reduce wastage of food and ensure that everyone has enough food to eat and no one is skin-and-bone or in hungry. 

This mission cannot be achieved when we lose the food produced globally. In my view point developed countries waste food more than the less developed countries at different stages. Although tones of food are produced if there is no adequate storage infrastructure the food wastage in every year is higher. This also in the other side shows that loss of energy happens in the same way.

So that this is the opportunity to raise large-scale awareness among the producers, transporters, manufacturers & retailers, regulators, hospitality industry and rich consumers on the negative aspects of wastage of food and how attentive actions can help minimize food loss.

I would like to say that there cannot be sustainable development exclusive of environment as it has significance. You may wonder what this significance is. That is natural resources cannot be replaced. Response to the theme of environmental day, the vital requirement is to become aware of environmental impact on the food choices. If food is wasted, it means all resources and inputs that used in the production are also lost. 

A Vision for the Decade (2014-2024) of Sustainable Energy for All

All achievements of human beings depend on energy. For instance, energy lights our cities, energy powers our vehicles, trains, planes and rockets, energy warms our homes, cooks our food, plays our music, gives us pictures on television, energy powers machinery in factories and tractors on a farm. When we eat, our bodies transform the energy stored in the food into energy to do work.

                        

With these facts I can say that mankind took billions of years to reach the peak where we stand now due to the conversion of energy from more useful to less useful forms. As all of us know most of the earth energy comes from the sun. People make use of energy in day and night to spend the luxury lives because energy releases as heat, sound, light etc. Energy makes people’s lives richer, more productive, safer and healthier to sustain while performing important activities and pass that via unusable energy forms. Energy is a fundamental key ingredient in the modern economy.

The studies of history reveal that the great civilization tried to survive by using fossil fuel sources. Fossil fuel for energy is one of the main debated issues at present because fossil fuels are not renewable, they can't be made again. Once they are gone, they're gone. As young generation, we must replenish the energy to run machines to make lives easier. With the industrial revolution human-being started consuming fuels faster than the planet can fill them. But now there is a serious talk on reaching the peak production of these energy foundations.

Energy ties into economic growth. We know that energy demand will increase significantly in the future. These are some of the considerable finding to sustain energy for all. In developed economies, energy demand will remain essentially smooth while in developing countries, energy demand will grow. Growing electricity demand will remain as the peak by 2024. Natural gas will be the fastest-growing major fuel. Gains in efficiency across economies worldwide through energy-saving practices and technologies will significantly reduce demand growth and curb emissions. In 2024, global energy demand will be about 40% higher compared to current year as economic output more than doubles and prosperity expands across a world whose population will grow to nearly ten billion people.

As oil wells reach peak oil no longer freely discharges out of the ground. It becomes increasingly difficult and expensive to pull to the surface. Therefore the energy is a pressure, since the population growth in each year rapidly and considerably.  Energy demand for the human is growing because they desire to sustain and improve the well-being of themselves, their families etc.

Through the decade 2014-2024, population and economic growth will drive demand higher, but the world will use energy more efficiently and shift toward lower-carbon fuels. The importance of sustainable energy provides many benefits for environment, for future generations, for job creation and energy security. Clean energy sources can be connected to produce electricity and process heat, fuel and valuable chemicals with less effect on the environment.

In contrast, emissions from cars powered by fuel and factories that burn oil will affect the atmosphere.
