Importance of Study Skills

The study skills are needed for higher education through studying at different stages in order to succeed the life to gain good grades is said by  Dr. Bob Kizlik (Adprima,2012). There are collections of study skills which are needed to grow in the process of studying in different levels.

 Only studying is not enough but should put effort to self-learning while understanding the concepts (Studytips,2012). To save time for studying can use various types of techniques like effective note taking using creative ways, mind-mapping and preparing the short notes. According to Studytips (2012), the study skills  vary from one another such as some students can study with noise, while hearing the radio/TV, but some need silent places, handouts etc. 


According to authors experience before the exam date, if students share their ideas and prepare for the exam is bettter than studying individually. In APIIT Foundation and Level C 1st Semester most of the subjects author studied by sharing the ideas with some friends. So that author gained success in the part of the life where he/she can be happy and be proud. And the following are some of the techniques followed by the author to do the studies well.

Types of study skills

•  If the theories,formulas or poems are difficult to remember repeat that until you can remember.
• Listen to video tutorials and try to understand the concepts or read books louldly to get the idea to the mind.
• These are the study strategies where students can use in their studies. The PQRST method is using  when students are studying from books. PQRST stands for Preview, Question, Read, Summary and Test. SQ3R is another method to study things which stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review.
• After reading the chapter in the book get the main idea and write down the most important points where another student can understand any time before the exam.

Ways to improve the study skills 

• In order to achieve  good results students should spend time on various kinds of areas such as IT, Business,English, Algebra, Geometry, Literature etc. As well  as do model papers and try to score highest marks. To that prepare a time table and work in line with that. 
• Do the hardest work at the preferred time of the day especially in the morning. There is a statement which is coming from the ancient is "If you study in the morning it is bringing success for the lives to pass the exams well.
• If there is a doubt in a subject clarify that with the lecture, Instructor or tutor before the exam and memorize or write down all the things on a piece of paper .

Study Groups
Study Techniques for Study Groups
Three or six students who are doing the same program get together in the outside of the lecture rooms and study two hours a day by sharing the ideas , correcting the answers. Some times meet on the chat rooms or anywhere.This group dedicate the time and energy on the content of the subjects, assignments, tests, exams.

Accrding to Usq (2012), students who study in these groups score highest marks at the tests as well as at the end of the semester. These students have unequal family backgrounds, experience. Not only that some have done extra than others. So that brains of the group at the face to a common problem and gain success. 
Study groups students help each other while enjoying themselves and do pass papers.  Some teach a subject content to others in the groups where others struggle to come up. These groups help to build socialize  in the future who respect to adults. The study groups have a main goal to achieve at a period of time in order to be proud of the work while looking back.

According to author's current experience in APIIT Foundation Course author dedicate the time and energy with the study group to achieve success. Author taught Quantitative Methods, Numerical Skills, Professional Communication for the group members and learned Business modules, Information Systems, Computer Technology. 


According to author's study group each day did work especially two hours but sometimes worked on free hours too. Students prepared well by doing the homework and extra work like pass papers and discussed them as well as brainstorming at the end of the studies of the group.The end result was "A" for all of the students in the study group as all dedicated time on this to achieve success in the life. When author remembers this author is very proud.

Success depend on student's study and the efforts. It describes by the quote "Success is dependent on effort" by Sophocles, Greek dramatist (Studyminder, 2011). Build teams, relationships and motivate people to contribute for the activities.  Cultivate leadership, creativity from this moment if you didn't do these to gain success in the life.
