Green Economy 2012

Welcome to joining with celebration of the World Environment Day on 5 June, 2012.  “The 2012 theme for World Environment Day is Green Economy: Does it include you?”

The theme mainly focal point on the Green Economy; this is where people close their minds because they stumble on this concept of Green Economy a little complex. This highlights that the Green Economy as an essential rethink to the way we do business, if we are to create a brighter future.

The Green Economy is defined by UN Environment Program as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. The green economy reduces carbon emissions and pollution, enhances energy and resource efficiency, and prevents the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Activities include street rallies and parades, as well as concerts, tree planting, and clean-up campaigns.

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. It is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of June 5. In this significant year for the environment and sustainable development, the world leaders will once again meet at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development twenty years after the historic Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, 1992.

Dubbed Rio+20, one of the main themes of this Summit is “a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication”. But more importantly, the theme emphasize the fact that ‘you’ are an important element to its success and invites you to evaluate whether the steps being taken by the government, private sector, civil society and community in your area ‘include you.’

Celebrating World Environment Day is about the inspirational power of individual actions that collectively become an exponential force for positive change.  World Environment Day celebrations have in the past included caring for the earth and water, the ozone layer, climate change etc. World Environment Day is celebrated around the world in many ways, including street gathering, bicycle parades, green concerts, essay and poster competitions in schools, tree planting, recycling efforts, clean-up campaigns and much more.

Why celebrate World Environment Day?

When we notice the negative special effects of climate change and environmental dreadful conditions, it is easy to blame others - governments for not prioritizing environmental policy; corporate organizations for raising greenhouse gas release and individuals for not taking action. But those who are blaming have neglected their valuable responsibility to care the environment. World Environment Day however is a day we put aside our differences and instead celebrate the achievements we've made towards protecting the environment. By celebrating World Environment Day, we remind ourselves and others of the importance of caring for our environment. If you start protecting the environment it’s helpful to the future generation as well to live energetically with joyful minds.

The Green Economy touches almost every aspect of our lives and concerns our development. For example, it is about energy, green jobs, green policies, green buildings, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, tourism, transport, waste management, water efficiency etc.

“Keep your world clean and green.
Save trees, save the environment!!
Clean city, Green city!!
Happy world environment day 2012″

Rising population and reduce resources have fake serious threats to our habitat, water, forests, wildlife, life and more. Climate change is another occurrence among the most threatened countries.

Intend of the day is to:
Give a human face to environmental issues.
Empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.
Promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues.
World Environment Day is similar to Earth Day. But keep in mind that both are not the same but the concept is bit differs. Now let’s look at the past few years’ themes to the world environment day.

Theme 2011: Forests-Nature at Your Service

This covers 1/3 of the earth’s land accumulation, performing imperative functions and services around the world which make our planet alive with possibilities. While c\moving to the detailed view people depend on forests for their livelihoods. They play a key role in our fight against climate change, releasing oxygen into the atmosphere while storing carbon dioxide.

Theme 2010: Many Species. One Planet. One Future
It celebrated the variety of life on Earth as part of the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity. Thousands of activities were organized worldwide, with beach clean-ups, concerts, exhibits, film festivals, community events.

Theme 2009: Your Planet Needs You – Unite to Combat Climate Change.

It mirrors the necessity for nations to agree on a new deal at the key climate in Copenhagen and the links with overcoming poverty and improved management of forests.
According to the UNEP Green Economy resulted in improved human comfort and social justice, while significantly reducing environmental threats. In addition to 2012 being an important date in the history of World Environment Day, it is also the 20thanniversary of the first Earth Summit that was held in Rio in 1992. It is estimated that demand for natural resources has doubled since 1996 and that it now takes a year and a half to restore the renewable resources that humans use in one year. The forecast is that by 2030 it will take the equal of two planets to meet resource demand.
"Green economics" is defined as any theory of economics by which an economy is considered to be component of the ecosystem in which it resides. A holistic approach to the subject is typical with any number of other subjects, depending on the particular theorist.
Karl Burkart defines a green economy as based on six main sectors.
§  Renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal, marine including wave)
§  Green buildings (green retrofits for energy and water efficiency, green products)
§  Clean transportation (alternative fuels, hybrid and electric vehicle, carpooling programs)
§  Water management (Water retrieval, rainwater systems)
§   Waste management (recycling, sustainable packaging)
§  Land management (natural agriculture, urban forestry, reforestation)

“Let the
Peace of Nature
Flow in your life…..
On
World Environment Day
and always !
Have a Great Environment Day
Happy Environment Day 2012″
