Telecommuting refers to workers doing their jobs from home for part of each week and communicating with their offices using computer technology. Telecommuting is growing in many countries and is expected to be common for most office workers in the coming decades. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting? What is your opinion?

The global workplace has seen a great deal of fundamental changes in recent years among Tele-commuting or Tele-working. Nowadays the development of communication systems such as the Internet and telephone changes the way of living of people drastically. For example, while managers travel to foreign countries they can check the progress of employees on their work or projects through Tele-conference or they can command their workers through telephone.

This is a remarkable creation of the advanced Technology Age that resulted from social and technological changes.  I would like to look at both potential advantages and hidden drawbacks of Tele-commuting. Today Tele-working is most popular. Clearly the growth of telecommuting affects people's life. Nowadays many of the jobs can be done from home instead of doing from the office. These are called Tele-commuting jobs. Even though these jobs look like convenient, it has lot of disadvantages.

Tele-commuting can be applied only to fields such as accountancy. Office environment is made for workers to work by collaborating and coordinating in work activities successfully. So the worker can achieve high efficiency when he/she work in the office. Going to work is a kind of transform for a person. Even if sometimes people think travelling from home to office and back is a tired and waste of time; it offers opportunities to meet people and make new relationships.

But when comparing and contrasting with the traditional environment the biggest shortcoming of Tele-commuting jobs is that it reduces the community interaction among the employees. This mode of doing jobs turn dull since everyone is sitting at home alone doing their work. But in my point of view social interaction is enormously necessitated for the well being of an individual. When the people work alone without meeting each other in teamwork; it is hard to attain a good result at the end. Talking over the phone or having a meeting on internet for hours is less effective than the real human interaction in office.

When looking at the positive side, Tele-commuting opens a new prospect for working partner who have to share the household commitments such as picking up their children, preparing meals etc. Also this thought provide facility those who have to take care of elderly or disabled people at home. Moreover provide opportunity to work the hours they wished and then have a rest in the afternoon and again working few hours in the evening. Tele-working will allow them to concurrently fulfill their duties at home with at work.

Additionally due to the shift in work place, Tele-workers can perform their liability from commuting the activities that have to be completed at home. A huge amount of time is saved because of Tele-commuting. Also productivity of the human being will be improved as people avoid the tiresome hours spent on travelling. This also offers a wider range of choices in order to thank to the Tele-commuting. Therefore most of the international companies conduct online conferences.

The arrangement of urban life is highly affected by telecommuting. We would expect to see fewer vehicles on the road during peak hours due to Tele-working establishments. And also there will be few office places as more people work and live in the same location. Tele-commuting is not just providing the change of work but also the way we live. Hopefully, telecommuting will grow more popularity in the next few years globally.
