To encourage healthy eating, higher taxes should be imposed on soft drinks and junk food

When we are talking of health, it is not just about a healthy body but also about sound mental health. The main causes behind poor health conditions are diseases, improper diet, mental stress, and unhealthy lifestyle. Nowadays stay fit and healthy is very important. There are a lot of discussions about how to prevent junk food.

·         One of many possible solutions could be to impose higher taxes on soft drinks and junk food. This will encourage healthy eating.

·         But it is not the best way; therefore junk food must be replaced by healthy and home-made food.

Yes, obesity is a huge problem in today’s society, but is extra taxes really the solution to this problem?

There are many people who are healthy weight, do regular exercise and generally have a healthy diet. These people like to take pleasure in the bottle of coke / bar of chocolate. But why are they not very fond on those.

Even the top people these days get to go wild and have a McDonalds everywhere.

Why should these people be charged extra tax? It’s just because the government are attempting to stop unhealthy people buying them. Money doesn’t grow on trees. But everyone needs something small to treat themselves from time to time. I believe a tax like this would be highly unfair.

In many countries the high cost of eating healthy food is often and it’s an excuse for being overweight, especially by people who have lower incomes. In this busy world many people do not like to cook meals at home when after they come back home. So they walk to a restaurant to buy food. These are the main causes for unhealthy.

If we think about how much a bar of chocolate costs today- a regular bar of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk costs “X” amount. The most expensive chocolate bars would cost in highly. How much tax can really be put on a bar of chocolate? I highly suspicion it. Therefore I disagree with this statement.  I believe that higher taxes should not be imposed on soft drinks and junk food. I hope these arguments have shown how it would be completely harmful to the society when eating junk food and also the introduction of higher taxes on soft drinks and junk food.
